東京都墨田区にて活動するアートプロジェクト「ファンタジア！ファンタジア！」と、同地にて1919年に創設されたセツルメント※が前身である「社会福祉法人興望館」との協働プロジェクトの一環で制作した作品です。
興望館の資料室に残された多くの写真をもとに図案を起こし、興望館に関わる様々な人たちと協働で制作した刺繍作品と、同資料室にて出会った1939年の職員日誌を手掛かりに創作した、架空の職員日誌を展示しました。
戦争や貧困を背景に、セツルメントの精神「ために、ではなく、ともに（with, Not For）」を学ぶことを通じて書き留められた思索は、「よりよく生きる」という目的においては、芸術も福祉も同じグラデーションのなかに存在しているということを示唆しています。
※19世紀後半、金品を与えるのみという従来の慈善事業への批判から提示された、住み込む（settle）ことによる社会改良事業という考えをもとに、一定地域に定住して、教育、育児、授産、医療など生活全般にわたり住民を援助する社会事業およびその施設。

The series of works here were produced as part of a collaborative project between the art project ‘Fantasia! Fantasia!’, which operates in Sumida, Tokyo, and the Social Welfare Corporation Kobokan, whose predecessor was the Settlement* founded there in 1919.
The exhibition featured embroideries created in collaboration with various people involved in the Kobokan, and fictional staff diaries created from 1939 staff diaries that were found in the Kobokan’s archive.
Against the backdrop of war and poverty, the thoughts written down through the study of the Settlement spirit ‘With, Not For’ suggest that both art and welfare exist in the same gradation in the aim of ‘better living’.
*Social projects and facilities that settle in a certain area and assist residents in all aspects of their lives, including education, childcare, nursing and medical care, based on the idea of social improvement projects through settling in, which was proposed in the late 19th century in response to criticism of traditional charities that only gave money and goods.
